Mother’s Day is coming on the 11th March this year. I’m sure some of you have already thought about it and have even purchased a gift and card for your Mum. Well done if you are one of these people. If you’re not then, read on, you may find some Mother’s Day gift ideas that will make you a thoughtful Mother’s Day gifter this year.
I’ve been thinking about Mother’s Day differently this year as it is my first as a Mother. Now I am thinking of what I would like to receive as a gift as well as what I think my Mum would like to receive. I have thought about gifts to support hobbies, gifts to decorate the house but this year I have settled on indulgent gifts. These are the type of items that you would love to have but won’t necessarily treat yourself to. At the moment I especially love my ‘Me’ time, whenever I can get it. As a new Mum, I didn’t know what I did with my time before! But let’s face it, we all live really busy lives and most of us don’t take enough ‘Me’ time. Therefore we should appreciate the time we do have to ourselves by pampering with extra special products.
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas…
I’ve recently renewed my love for candles. Up until then I would not have considered a candle as a thoughtful gift. I put it all down to the quality of the candle. I had been burning some poor quality candles that I didn’t enjoy but after receiving new, quality candles I have completely changed my mind. A nice candle appeases your sense of smell and can relax and indulge you. I enjoy walking into a room with a beautifully scented candle burning. Below you will find a few candles that I think would make a great gift for Mother’s Day.
Ok, so, I received my first Jo Malone candle as a gift a while ago and I love, love, love it. The scent permeates the house and just makes me happy. I only burn it when I really want to indulge myself but I also love to look at it. I know they are higher on the price range but if your budget can streeeetch to this candle, they are definitely worth it. You can even get one engraved with some thoughtful words on the Jo Malone website. I suggest the yummy Jo Malone London Pomegranate Noir Home Candle, 200g which has a fruity scent and a burn time of 45 hours and is priced at £45. They have a travel version too if you just wanted to give a taster before splashing out. The travel size one is priced at £23. And you get a complimentary taster for yourself too. Win-win. You can find out more from the Jo Malone website here.
If you are looking for a candle for your Mum to relax with, then a candle produced by a Spa company is ideal. ESPA is certainly a name synonymous with luxury and relaxation. The blurb says that the citrusy scents of the ESPA Restorative candle combined with lavender mean that it is both refreshing and comforting at the same time. I haven’t used this particular one myself but it is highly rated by The Independent newspaper. The candle burns for 40 hours and costs £26 so a great mid priced candle gift for Mum. You can find out more from the ESPA website here.
Sainsbury’s Nordic Candle
This candle may be on the lower budget end but it is still a worthy gift. I love the way it looks and it also has a lovely refreshing smell, great for Hygge. There are two sizes, a single wick version at £5 and a bigger three wick version for £15. I already own the smaller version but the larger one is on my wishlist. I think they are last season though so only available in store. If this is your choice get there fast!
Not the most exciting of titles but I don’t mean toothpaste or deodorant. I am talking about really nice body washes, bath oils, hand wash and moisturisers. We call them ‘smellies’ in my family. Showering is one of the only times of the day when I get to be by myself. I love lathering up with my luxurious shower gel and the wallowing in the scent. If I am lucky enough to have time to use moisturiser afterwards, it is just pure heaven.
Here are a few that I think are worth giving as an indulgent gift for your Mum.
There are only two reasons that would cause me to frequently visit the Ladies room. One is obvious but the other is when there is Molton Brown hand wash and hand moisturiser. I love the opulent scent on my hands and the non greasy moisturising cream. At the moment the Orange & Bergamot scent is my favourite but they all smell so good it won’t be for long. I think they make a great Mother’s Day gift starting from £38 for the hand wash and hand lotion. And just a quick addition, their shower gel and moisturiser is fantastic too. Have a look at their website for more information here.
If you are looking for some beautiful shower/bath gel and moisturising cream but also looking for something a little different to the usual brands then Seascape is definitely for you. It has a beautiful natural scent of a combination of essential oils and the lovely lather that this body wash has is gorgeous. This is one of my favourites but also not so well known so a hidden gem. Depending on what you think your Mum needs, the Body wash and moisturiser duo comes in Unwind or Uplift and is priced at £30. Have a look at what they can do on their website here.
If your budget does not stretch to the above ideas, I find Sanctuary Spa products to be a super alternative. I normally get one of the travel size ones in my stocking at Christmas. The Green Lemon & Orange Blossom scent is lovely and refreshing and there is a lovely gift set of body wash, Body Lotion and Body scrub available on their website for £15. You can find out all about it here.
Receiving a voucher for a massage or facial is always a lovely go-to gift but if you are thinking of giving your Mum a treat in the form of a treatment gift voucher, why not think a little out of the box this year? If you have ever had an Aveda Intense Indulgent Treatment with Blow Dry then you have not lived. I personally find it more relaxing than a massage and rather than leaving with an oily back, you leave with beautifully shiny, blow dried hair. What is not to love? The 60 minute treatment with blow dry costs £50. So if you have an Aveda salon near you then this is a no brainer. Have a look at the Aveda website for more information here.
As a new Mum, my baby is always at the forefront of my mind and I love to keep her close, even when she isn’t close. They are so small for such a short time, you want to treasure every moment and immortalise their tiny features forever. A gift from the Smallprint Fingerprint Jewellery UK Company is a perfect gift for a new Mum, if budget allows. They do silver hand and/or feet imprint jewellery that can be treasured for a lifetime. I love this idea and although I don’t have one of these pieces of jewellery myself, several of my mummy friends have used their services and were happy. Prices start from £65 for a fingerprint charm and you can find out more here.
There are some beautiful hand made cards out for Mother’s Day. So instead of popping into your local high street chain, why not check out some of these Mother’s Day cards instead?
This one made me cry, probably the Mummy hormones but it is really sweet – it is available from here.
I liked this one because of the versatility – nice touch that you could frame it after too. You can get this from here.
If you know an expectant Mummy then they will love this card. Be warned, there may be tears. You can get this from here.
